Mather Phase II Update

Demolition of The Georgian, to prepare for Phase II of the Mather project is scheduled to begin in early December. The Fire Department will be conducting training exercises prior to demolition on December 1-3. In preparation for demolition, the required fencing has been installed around the building and the initial permit from the City has been issued.

As specified in the Construction Management Plan, the following rules are to be followed in all phases of demolition and construction.

  • Workers are forbidden from parking on City streets and must park their vehicles in one of the City Parking Garages. Violations should be reported to the City (below) so that they can quickly address issues.
  • Weekday work hours are from 7am to 6pm with Saturday work hours from 8am to 5pm. There is to be no work on Sundays.
  • Mather is being required by the City to install protective fencing around the parkway trees on Hinman and Davis.
  • Trucks arriving at the site must follow a prescribed ingress and egress (Chicago to Grove, East on Grove to Hinman, North on Hinman to site; Leave via Davis to Chicago Avenue)
  • There is to be absolutely no staging of materials in the existing garden behind the Georgian.

Demolition is being performed by American Demolition Corporation and Construction will be coordinated by Power Construction. Both companies are fully aware of the terms of the Construction Management Plan.
